Q & A:
- What does your current quiver consist of?
A derek hynded greg little, a peke, a boggie board and some flippers.
- What is your favorite break?
Emma Wood.
- Favorite maneuver?
Floater.
- Barreling sand bar beach break OR long ripable point break?
Barreling sandbars are hard to beat.
- Do you have an ultimate end goal? Where do you see yourself as on old timer?
I guess my plan is to learn some worthwhile ways to spend my time and to have some good tricks for enjoying life to pass on to my kids. hopefully as an old timer i will live around here somewhere with lots of family around. it would be great to still have a reason to get wet as often as possible. hopefully i will continue to have worthy ranch and farm projects to work on until i kick the bucket.
- What would you consider your biggest weakness and/or strength?
Getting out of bed and dealing with gadgets. strength would be dropping everything to do something fun.
- Bucket list items?
I would still like to catch a few big waves. i would like to spear more fish. i would like to learn how to drive a team of horses.
- Most interesting quarrel in the water?
On a mushy chest high day at home i was surfing alone when some guys pulled up and started towing in to waves. i figured they would keep there distance but sure enough they almost ran me over. i waved them over to have a chat. i told them about a stretch of beach that is completely empty that is perfect for what they were up to. the first thing the guy does is say “where did you get that board, from your grandpa!” it was a skip frye and i was so caught off guard by the comment that i had no idea that he was trying to be mean. i said that i had bought the board and he told me that i should get my money back. at that point it got a little ugly and calling the towee a fat piece of shit that might be in better shape if he paddled. his final words were “is that all you got” and then sped off while giving me the bird. i thought long and hard about calling chris and keith and heading over to the harbor with a few beers to welcome my new buddies to the neiborhood.
- Near death experiences?
My board knocked me out one time but i came too pretty quick. it was a close call but just ended in a handful of stitches.
- How do you handle surfer stereotypes?
I try not to.
- Describe your typical day at home.
I usually spend the first few hour helping my dad with chores around the ranch or the girls with the garden. if all is well i head down to the ocean.
